Collaborations

Professor Sikorski, a photochemist, is recognized for his research, international collaborations and extensive travel experiences. Born in Miastko, he began his academic journey by studying photochemistry in Poznan. One of the defining moments in Sikorski's career was his first visit to the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science in Novosibirsk, Russia. He worked under the guidance of Prof. N.M. Bazhin, and met some others professors as A.J. Burshtein, N. P. Gritsan, V. F. Plyusnin, V.I. Makarov, I.V. Khmelinskii which sparked his interest in international collaborations. Sikorski's international exposure expanded when he received a grant from the Royal Society of London and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to conduct his postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. F. Wilkinson at Loughborough University in England. This visit was followed by several others, including a postdoctoral research visit to Prof. R. P. Steer’s lab at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, and a Fulbright Fellowship at the University of Notre Dame in the USA, under the guidance of Prof. J.K. Thomas. Prof. Sikorski continued to expand his international collaborations, making visits to several other universities, including Prof. I.V. Khmelinskii at the Universidade do Algarve in Faro, Portugal, Prof. JL. Bourdelande at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in Bellaterra, Barcelona, Spain, Prof. F.C. De Schryver at Katholiek Universiteit Leuven in Heverlee-Leuven, Belgium, Prof. L.F.V. Ferreira at Universidade Técnica de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal, R.S. Alibekov PhD at South Kazakhstan State University, Shymkent, Kazakhstan, Prof. Chenzhong Dong, Prof. Denghong Zhang, Prof. Duixiong Sun, at Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou, China, and Prof. R. Cibulka at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, Czech Republic. Professor Sikorski has received several honors for his research, including two Journal Grants for International Authors from The Royal Society of Chemistry for a series of articles published in RSC journals. His research contributions have been significant in the field of photochemistry and his international collaborations have enriched the scientific community.
