Summary

This study presents investigations realized during several years concerning the problem of environment contamination and protection of underground waters intakes. The problem was analyzed in biological, chemical and water reserves aspects. As detailed problem examined in this paper it could be mentioned  -  among others  -  the following: conditions of penetration of microorganisms into aquifer layer, causes of variability of chemical composition of underground water, the form of contamination of underground waters by dumps of industrial refuse and sewage, as well as the relation between water resources and hydrogeological structure and the water supply region. It was also presented schematically form examples of conditions of underground water intakes protection in the biological, chemical and water reserves domain. An extensive review of literature concerning the investigated problem has been also given. The obtained results of investigations and the literature analysis allowed to state concerning the principles of underground waters intakes protection.
